Our professional staff includes three psychiatrists, and two psychotherapists
Physicians:
Philip Mizell, M.D., C.P.E, is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in the
specialty of psychiatry. He earned his M.D. from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1978 and completed his residency in psychiatry at UAMS in 1982. He is the former Medical Director of the Arkansas State Hospital and is the former Medical Director and Vice President of Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. He is currently co-Medical Director at Bridgeway Hospital. He is the Chief Medical Officer for the Arkansas Department of Health Information Technology. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a Diplomate of the American College of Physician Executives.
Duong Nguyen M.D., is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in the specialty of psychiatry. He earned his M.D. from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1988 and completed his psychiatric residency at UAMS. He is Medical Director of the Geriatric Psychiatric Unit at
Richard Owings, M.D., Ph.D., is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in
the specialty of psychiatry. He graduated from the
Psychotherapists:
Wendy Newsam, LPE, graduated with a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Central Arkansas and specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy. She has worked with PAA since 2010. She is experienced in group and individual therapy in inpatient and outpatient settings with a wide range of patients.
Garry D. Teeter, MS, LPC, NCC, CBIST received his masters degree in Community
Counseling from the University of Central Arkansas in 1995 and is licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor, a National Board Certified Counselor, and a Certified Brain Injury Specialist/Trainer. Garry is a provisional member of the Arkansas United Methodist Church as a Deacon. He has served two terms as Board Chair of the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy. Garry has served two terms as President of the Arkansas Mental Health Counselors Association (ArMHCA) and currently is ArMHCA’s membership chair.
