About Us

Our goal is to always provide you with the best care. Your collaboration with us makes that possible.

Our professional staff includes three psychiatrists, one psychologist, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and five psychotherapists.

Physicians:

 

Jackie Coombe-Moore M.D., earned her M.D. from UAMS in 1992 and completed her psychiatric residency there. She is the former Co-Medical Director of the Senior Care Geropsych Department at the Johnson County Regional Medical Center in Clarksville. She sees adults and adolescents at Psychiatric Associates of Arkansas.

 

Duong Nguyen M.D., is board-certified in psychiatry. He earned his M.D. from UAMS in 1988 and completed his psychiatric residency there. He is Medical Director of the Geriatric Psychiatric Unit at Saline Memorial Hospital, and the New Day Geriatric Program in Benton. He is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.

 

Richard Owings, M.D., Ph.D., is board-certified in psychiatry. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a M.A. and Ph.D. in psychology in 1976. He earned his M.D. from UAMS in 1984 and completed his residency at Harvard Medical School in 1988. He is the former Medical Director of both Charter and Pinnacle Point Hospitals. He is the Medical Director at the Bridgeway Hospital. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American psychiatric Association.

 

 

Clinical Psychologist:

 

Cheralyn Powers, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist who has practiced in Arkansas since 1986. She earned a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS and completed an internship at the John L. McClellan Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Little Rock. She works with children, adolescents and adults and provides assessment, testing and psychotherapy.

 

 

Nurse Practitioner:

 

Sandra Bedwell, ANP, is a registered nurse with an advanced practice degree. She has worked in psychiatry for many years and currently sees children, adolescents and adults at PAA for medication management appointments one day per week.

 

 

Psychotherapist:

 

John Bedwell, LCSW, works with adults and families at PAA. He has many year of experience in both inpatient and outpatient facilities and has been with PAA since 2003. He graduated with a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Mississippi at Hattiesburg.

 

Note: all of the following licensed clinical social workers (LCSW) graduated with a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

  

Lynne Clifton, LCSW, has worked with PAA since 1995 providing care to a wide variety of clients of all ages. Her particular areas of interest and emphasis include seriously and persistently mentally ill adults, geriatric psychiatry and domestic violence.

 

Diane Doherty, LCSW, has worked with PAA since 1996. She has experience in working with women and children with AIDS as well as family integration with Gulf War Veterans. She works with children, adolescents and their families as well as adults at PAA.

  

Hazel B Farris, LCSW, has been in the social work field since 1982. She has worked in outpatient private practice settings and sees adults, couples and families. She offers psychotherapy from a Christian perspective to those clients who request it. She joined PAA in 2009.

 

Jody Nichols, LCSW, has worked with PAA since 1997 to provide therapy to school age children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. As a Christian therapist, he has experience in outpatient, inpatient, residential and school-based therapy programs. His particular areas of interest are marital and family relationship issues.
