Your first appointment
Please download and fill out our initial paperwork from the Patient Info page.  Come 30 minutes early.  Bring your insurance card  Please come prepared to pay your co-pay and any deductibles.  A custodial parent must accompany children.

Medications
Psychiatric medications are our specialty. They are the primary medications we prescribe. If you are receiving other medications from other doctors (for high blood pressure, pain control, hormones, etc.), we ask that you continue to get those from your other doctors and not ask that we take over prescribing them.We don't prescribe narcotics.

No medications will be renewed indefinitely. We will want to see you at least once every six months to continue your medications. This is for your safety. We need to be able to monitor changes in your health status, and we also need to be made aware of any changes in your other medications or treatments.

Prescription refills
You should get your prescriptions at your appointments.  If problems arise, we don't want you to run out of your medicines and will telephone or electronically transmit your prescriptions to last until an appointment.  You will have to have an appointment scheduled and your account must be up to date and you must pay any missed appointment fees.  Your pharmacy can request a refill for you electronically.   We don't prescribe narcotics.  We may charge a $10 fee for prescriptions outside of appointments depending on the circumstances.  Prescriptions will not be called in after hours or on weekends.

Phone Calls
You can contact your doctor or therapist by calling the office at 501-228-7400.  The secretary will take a message and communicate it.  Your doctor or therapist will respond and the secretary will call you with the response.  A better alternative is to log on to the web portal and send a HIPAA secure message.  This appears as a message on your doctor or psychotherapists's computer and they will respond with a message that will be transmitted to you.   Our office hours are 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

After hours emergencies
Most of your care should be handled through the office during office hours.  Emergencies arise.  For instance psychiatric patients may become suicidal.  You can reach your doctor through the Pulaski County Medical Exchange, 501-663-6400, on weeknights.  One doctor is on call for weekends or vacations.  Psychotherapists cannot be reached after hours.  There is always a doctor available to you for emergencies. Your phone must accept blocked numbers to receive a callback from the doctor after normal business hours.   After hour calls should be only for emergencies.

Scheduling, Cancelling, and Rescheduling
You can schedule appointments with the receptionist or at the end of your appointment with your doctor or therapist.  You will get a telephone reminder 24 hours before your appointment.  If you need to cancel, please do so 24 hours in advance.  If you no-show or cancel within 24 hours there is a $25 missed appoint fee for doctor appointments.  Our therapists are independent contractors and set their own policies for missed psychotherapy appointments and will advise you of these.  Missed appointment fees reflect the cost of our committing a resource to you that is wasted.

Insurance
We make every effort to work with you and your insurance company for payment of your treatment. Insurance plans have various requirements that must be met before they will pay their portion. Mental health coverage is frequently different from your regular health coverage. Please call your insurance company and ask for "outpatient mental health benefits" to find out what your responsibility will be for your visit. In some cases you must register with the mental health benefit company. In others, you must get a referral from your primary care provider. You are responsible for making all of these arrangements before arriving our office. Please plan to pay your co-pay coinsurance and deductible prior to being seen. Keep in mind that even with insurance coverage the patient is ultimately responsible for their bill.

Paperwork
If you have paperwork to be filled out for employers, disability carriers, insurance companies, etc., present it at the beginning of your appointment.  If it can be completed in the appointment, we will do it together at no added charge.  If it can be completed by a secretary, there's no charge.  Otherwise you will be charged for the time it takes at a rate of $200 per hour; most forms require about 15 minutes ($50) to gather the data from the record and fill out the form.
