Our Services
Medications
Psychiatric medications are our specialty. They are the primary medications we prescribe. If you are receiving other medications from other doctors (for high blood pressure, pain control, hormones, etc.), we ask that you continue to get those from your other doctors and not ask that we take over prescribing them.
No medications will be renewed indefinitely. We will want to see you at least once every six months to continue your medications. This is for your safety. We need to be able to monitor changes in your health status, and we also need to be made aware of any changes in your other medications or treatments.
We prefer to handle your prescriptions at your appointments.
If you must call for a refill you will be expected to have a follow up appointment scheduled with your Doctor, your account balance must be current and please allow us 24 hours to renew your prescription. There are some prescriptions, which cannot be called in but must be written. To renew these prescriptions, please give us 48-hour notice. Abused medications (narcotics, psychostimulants and benzodiazepines) will not be called in by the on-call doctor on weekends. No lost prescriptions will not be replaced until your next appointment.
Phone Calls
During the week, Dr. Nguyen, Dr. Owings and Dr. Powers take their own calls and will return your phone calls during regular business hours. Our office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The doctors are on-call each evening for emergency calls and can be reached through our answering service (501-228-7400). On weekends, doctors rotate emergency call coverage. There is always a doctor available to you for emergencies. Your phone must accept blocked numbers to receive a callback from the doctor after normal business hours.
Insurance
We make every effort to work with you and your insurance company for payment of your treatment. Insurance plans have various requirements that must be met before they will pay their portion. Mental health coverage is frequently different from your regular health coverage. Please call your insurance company and ask for "outpatient mental health benefits" to find out what your responsibility will be for your visit. In some cases you must register with the mental health benefit company. In others, you must get a referral from your primary care provider. You are responsible for making all of these arrangements before arriving our office. Please plan to pay your co-pay coinsurance and deductible prior to being seen. Keep in mind that even with insurance coverage the patient is ultimately responsible for their bill.
